Music Mystery Solved

I said yesterday that I was wondering what song Cold Cave’s “Love Comes Closer” reminded me of. As several people said, the entire track is very reminiscent of Joy Division. But JoshM nailed what was really getting to me; the opening beat is straight from Q Lazzarus’ “Goodbye Horses”, made famous by The Silence of the Lambs.

YES. This has been driving me crazy.

I’m one for constant references in music. But CC ought to pay royalties.

Also, it’s not so much Joy Division as New Order. The vocal phrasing owes heavily to “Your Silent Face.”

    TEMPTATION, by New Order. Duh!

I think of it as a song from the Married to the Mob soundtrack.

    “Goodbye Horses,” I mean.

It’s fun watching that scene in “Silence of the Lambs” on network TV, because they have to do something with the easy-to-lipread line “I’d fuck me” and of course the rated-PG alternative is always preposterous. I saw one dubbed version that had him say “I’d have me. I’d have me so hard…”

    Ahem!

But who nailed what and who the the title and arrtist were, Matt?

    hmmm…
