Off to “progressivism on tap.”
— Berlin brothel offers discounts for cyclists.
— France looks at letting stores open on Sunday.
— I, too, would be interested in reading Greg Mankiw’s thoughts on Sarah Palin’s op-ed.
— Americans like Empire better when you call it “liberty.”
— Tracy McGrady to solve Darfur refugee crisis by changing his number.
Your song of the day is this video of a recent Broken Social Scene show where they played “Shoreline” with Leslie Feist.

well, cyclists just weave in and out and they’re gone.

Shut the fuck up, LoneWacko.

oh, don’t be hard on T-Mac. At least there is an athlete who has some kind of social conscience and international awareness.

Increasingly read this blog for the music links. Broken Social Scene is pretty good live. Sadly, Leslie Feist wasn’t with them when I saw them.

I feel like a fucking moron for missing that (free!) concert.

Americans like Empire better when you call it “liberty.”
And, God knows, Stephen Walt hates liberty.

To dwell on the music again, I really hope Feist doesn’t become a solo artist permanently. Her solo albums have been good, but not as good (IMHO) as her work with other artists, where there’s someone else to add an edge and keep the music from becoming *purely* about her vocal skills.

I, too, would be interested in reading Greg Mankiw’s thoughts on Sarah Palin’s op-ed.
Mankiw has been pushing pigovian taxes to deal with carbon emissions, not to solve our so-called problem of buying energy from foreign sources. Palin’s column said (stupidly) precisely nothing about carbon emissions… so I’m not exactly sure what Scheiber is on about when he says “I thought making energy more expensive was precisely where the answer lay“. They’re talking about different things, dude.

- Maybe MattY could explain why libertarians who are associated in some way with Reason Magazine – commenters or perhaps contributors – keep coming to his site and leaving childish comments designed to degrade his site (see #2 above). Those cowardly libertarians aren’t smart enough to debate me, so they engage in cowardly smears.
- Perhaps Dave Weigel could try to explain why BHO, Snopes and Wikipedia can’t get their stories straight on which hospital BHO was born in. You’d think those who claim to know for a fact that he was born in HI would be able to keep their stories straight on which hospital it was.
- As for Instapundit, was I blistering enough in comments here, or should I crank up the scorcho next time?

He’s stalking Dave Weigel
(he’s stalking Dave Weigel)
It’s funny but it’s true.
He’s stalking Dave Weigel

‘Cos he’s a Birther through and through.

The truth of the matter is that I’m not stalking Weigel. Falsely accusing someone of committing a crime? It’s all part of the libertarian playbook.
What’s also interesting is that after I left a comment at TWI pointing out to Weigel that someone was doing the above, it stopped mentioning Weigel for a couple days. Now, it’s back to mentioning him. The reader is invited to speculate on who exactly it could be. Could it be Weigel himself? Someone who doesn’t like him (or MattY) trying to make both of them look bad? Or, an actual fan of Weigel?

A prostitute’s union in Germany? Double overtime for working on Sunday in France? Barbarians!
Thank Gott we have an ocean between us and them and a trillion dollar Navy to protect us.

What’s also interesting is how hard it is to find words that rhyme with ‘Weigel’.
The reader is invited to speculate on 24’s current dosage.

Iain Banks is the best writer simply because this paragraph is one of perhaps thousands of toss offs within his books that combine humor, insight, and clarity. That’s right, the best writer.
Try reading the paragraph about Marin in the player of games, or the paragraph about seeing through the eyes of a culture Ship in Excession. Effortless writing and an extremely high idea to word ratio combined with humor.

A song of my day, kinda tied to BSS (other talented hot girl singer) and it sounds like a sequel of sorts to Breeder’s ‘Divine Hammer’ from a few days back. Should about cover it.

You still have some of the weirdest commenters on any blog, ever.

Tracy McGrady to solve Darfur refugee crisis by changing his number.
What a remarkably dismissive and obnoxious way to describe a fundamentally decent act. He’s changing his number to publicize the documentary he helped make about the crisis. Shame on you.

If there was a Stupid Hall of Fame, this statement would get in on the first ballot.

BTW, aren’t you the guy who keeps accusing people of defamation for writing things about you on blog threads?
