Beer ‘n Bloggers

Exciting DC event! Meet the Ezra Klein (and also me):

Please join us for the second event in our Progressivism On Tap series featuring Ezra Klein, of the Washington Post, and Matt Yglesias, of ThinkProgress. The progressive bloggers will discuss how they use political ideology, history, and philosophy in their own work, and how these ideas are shaping domestic and international policy debates.

Mmm…booze.

  1. Horaceco Says:

It sounds interesting. Unfortunately, I have boose commitments elsewhere in the DC area. Mmm…booze.

  2. LaFollette Progressive Says:

Wait… that’s TONIGHT, isn’t it? Already got booze and entertainment lined up.

  3. White Widow Says:

If any potheads show up, please tell them they bore you and then call the police to have them locked up.

  4. Cyrus Says:

Ooo, I’m torn. I’ve been feeling guilty about not doing anything to celebrate Bastille Day, and here this event comes along, at a place named for a Paris neighborhood to boot. On the other hand, how am I supposed to get there? It’s a mile from the Dupont Circle metro station, and sure, there’s probably a bus, but God knows how long that would take in either direction.

OK, on checking directions the next Metro station is closer than Dupont. Still, gotta pass, sorry. I do have plans, they just aren’t Bastille-Day-related. Good luck though.

  5. Jessican Says:

What about Attackerman? Everyone knows he is the “Awesome” American blogger and you’re just the “Generic” one.

  6. -g Says:

I don’t know about you all, but I’m not sure that left-thinkers sponsoring a POT seminars works in our favor.

  7. max Says:

You know, this little Hayes-Klein-Yglesias frat boy club is a little annoying. This will come as a shock, but there are other good blogs and bloggers out there you can link to! I know, crazy right?!

Broaden your horizons a little bit.

  8. Lord Says:

Just the place to take up DeLong’s advice for links:
“It’s simple: you mount your destrier, take up your lance, and ride to the offices of Center for American Progress. There you tap on his shield with your lance–the butt end for a link a plaisance, the sharp end for a link a outrance.

    I recommend a plaisance…”

  9. aon Says:

Y’all should do this at someone’s house, because then you could charge $25k for it.

  10. Al Says:

    Who’s bringing the pie?

  11. Nordy Says:

Will you be offering off-the-record access to important policymakers?

  12. Vermont Devil Says:

Yeah right you are shaping the debate across the country.

  13. Njorl Says:

The progressive bloggers will discuss how they use political ideology, history, and philosophy in their own work…

I figure this is so vague it would go something like this.

Ezra: We use political ideology, history, and philosophy in our work.
Matt: Yes. We do this by including it. Any questions? OK, who wants to buy me a beer?

  14. scythia Says:

Awesome! I’ll be the one in the back of the room, cracking snarky jokes while others attempt to make legitimate points.

  15. George Fwill Says:

Will Kitty Weymouth be there, offering her favors to lobbyists?

  16. Poptarts Says:

Will hipsters be there twittering and wearing their Calvin Klein jeans?

  17. cminus Says:

I’d really like to go, but I don’t get out of work until 6, and Left Bank is deep in subway-inaccessible Adams Morgan. If you’re going to make a habit out of these sort of events — and I hope you do — maybe they should accommodate people’s work schedules by not starting the second the offices let out?

  18. AHG Says:

    A. Hipsters wouldn’t be caught dead in Calvin Klein jeans and I don’t know any who twitter.

    B. I too would totally be there if you gave more than 3 hours notice. I like beer and progressive bloggers….

  19. Poptarts Says:

    A. Hipsters wouldn’t be caught dead in Calvin Klein jeans and I don’t know any who twitter.

    Not according to Hector.

  20. mickster Says:

Ezra Klein’s decision to upgrade his career by signing on to Fred Hiatt and Wapo has greatly tarnished his image and appeal to me. Sort of like Matt Yglesias deciding to blog for WSJ editorial page.
