Endgame

It’s ThinkBeer happy hour this evening, so:

— Women and men judge gender discrimination cases differently.

— The right’s new Sotomayor strategy is the same as the old strategy.

“A sizzling test of seven eco-sunscreen brands”.

— The past of the future of fashion.

— Michael Rubin continues to be an ass.

All decent people are rooting for the Magic, right?

I completely agree about Michael Goldfarb but I think that link refers to a Michael Rubin.. Just a heads up.

  2. Willie Says:

Meh. I’m rooting for a 7 game series.

  3. Robert Fiore Says:

Decent or not, I’m rooting for the Lakers. Thank you for the lovely compliment.

  4. M Says:

    Michael Rubin is an ass.

  5. dim Says:

    Of course.

  6. 24AheadDotCom Says:

    - The linked TP post contains a LogicalFallacy. While that could be said about almost any TP or MattY post, what I’m specifically referring to is at the “would allow her race to impact her rulings” part. There is a distinction between what Gingrich said before and what he’s apparently saying now, even if TP isn’t bright enough to figure it out.

    - For a discussion of MattY’s boss, please see Why is John Podesta of CAP willing to hurt American nurses and teachers?

  7. El Cid Says:

As much as I hate to admit it, 24Ahead actually made a relevant point.

But whether or not the point is on your blog, make that point here.

And make it relevant to the content of the posts. Don’t just throw in “for a discussion of MattY’s boss”, why not tell people why you’re making the argument instead of just looking like you’re lazily and greedily blog-whoring again.

How much longer would have taken you to post a comment on the actual post related to immigration reform issues where the substance of your point appeared?

Don’t you realize how much better that would look than “MattY sucks and his boss is for shit and here’s my blog link”?

  8. 24AheadDotCom Says:

    - I not only have my own sub-trolls at this site, now I’ve got my own sub-concern trolls.

    - I heard someone say he heard a rumor that JesseWatters is going to show up with a camera crew at the “ThinkBeer happy hour”. Is that true?

  9. Don Williams Says:

Among the global events overlooked by Matthew:

In honor of the 20th Anniversity of Tinnenmen Square, The Emperor of China stretched out his hand and destroyed the Shaolin Monk Kwai Chang Caine.

  10. Don Williams Says:

Too bad no one ever managed to shove Grasshopper’s scrawny ass into a Mixed Martial Arts cage when he was on one of his benders.

But on the positive side, a whole generation of muggers have pissed themselves laughing at his handwaving devotees.

  11. joe from Lowell Says:

“Swann told us she wanted to encourage all of us in our talking points and that we’re having traction among Republicans and unnerving Democrats,” said an attendee of Wednesday’s weekly meeting hosted by Grover Norquist, the president of Americans for Tax Reform.

Just as with the tire gauges, the teabagging rallies, and Sarah Palin, conservatives continue to misread our pointing and laughing at them as worry.

  12. pseudonymous in nc Says:

El Cid– Lonewacko got asked HardQuestions on the other thread, so he ran away to blogwhore this one, in the hope that it hangs around at the top of the page overnight. Funny how that happens all the time, no?

  13. soullite Says:

Wow Don, the dude just died. He may has been a lush, but WTF. He didn’t deserve that.

And really, you’re holding MMA out as an example of ‘real’ martial arts. If those people were really going at it, they wouldn’t be able to grapple because they’d have broken each-others limbs as soon as they got that close.

  14. Charrua Says:

Agreed. MMA is as “real” as any other form of combat sport, which is to say, not much. Real fights happen in open, often irregular spaces, often between groups of people and with improvised weapons available and are really brief. Try grappling someone in a fight in a soccer stadium, for example, and probably someone will break a bottle on your head or throw you in jail.

  15. El Cid Says:

Okay, AssHead, be your regular asshole, lying, blog-whoring sack of shit without anyone’s friendly advice.

The only fucking reason you come here is to annoy people with links to your shitty blog.

There’s no sub-troll, there’s just you and your bullshit, grasping, desperate, sad lame attempt to parasitize off of the vastly, greatly, hugely more successful than you Matt Yglesias so that you can add a few more trailer park readers to your linkshit where you can scream about how everybody’s gettin’ ready ta kill da white mans.

  16. Robert Fiore Says:

What a wonderful night for indecent people everywhere. I feel like Ming the Merciless. Lex Luthor. Goldfinger.

  17. thedavidmo Says:

You knew it was really over when Kobe’s Warrior Underbite came out.

    It’s the underbite….OF A CHAMPION!

    Lakers in 5!!!

  18. not me Says:

It looks like carradine died from auto_erotic asphixation. He was found naked in a closet with a rope around his neck and “other body parts”. Some news reports are reading like it was a suicide, but the local police are calling it “accidental” and he seemed to be in a good mood recently.

Let’s hope the lakers(mostly wankers) choke, in honor of the fallen.

  19. Max424 Says:

I predicted the Magic in 6. Usually I don’t panic after I witness my team get crushed in game 1 on the road, but if Van Gungy continues to give Jameer Nelson big minutes -Lakers in 5.

I like Nelson but now it not the time to shake up a successful line-up. After he came in the Magic offense slowly went dead and their rotation was screwed up for the rest of the game. The whole team looked lost.

Maybe game one was an aberration, but I think not. Unfortunately for my forces -my boys, my cherished lads- I smell an impending slaughter.

  20. Chris D Says:

Tonight’s game was brutal. I blame Petey.

It’s hard to find a silver lining, but I can take solace in the fact that I’d written the Magic off at least four times these playoffs and they managed to bounce back each time. Besides, it’s only one game. Remember the Memorial Day Massacre?

  21. Ed Smithe Says:

Well I guess this would explain why she didn’t agree with the Administration’s assertion that she had made a poor choice of words:

    http://blogs.cqpolitics.com/legal_beat/2009/06/sotomayor-repeatedly-reference.html

Kinda makes it difficult to say that this was pulled out of context as well, no?

  22. Ed Smithe Says:

Oh, and no one watches the NBA anymore. You might as well turn it on Monday Night RAW to find calls/decisions that are more consistent.

  23. Ed Smithe Says:

Well, at least this is a positive:

The speeches also reveal she has spoken highly of Justice Antonin Scalia, whom she introduced during a September 2001 event at Hofstra Law School as a powerful thinker who has spoken about the role of federal judges in “illuminating ways.”

“I understand Justice Scalia’s jurisprudence to begin with a proposition that we should all agree to – namely, that judges should try to interpret the law correctly, and without personal or political bias,” Sotomayor said.

Hopefully ThinkProgress doesn’t get wind of that heinous remark. It might just derail her.

  24. Don Williams Says:

Re not me at 18: “It looks like carradine died from auto_erotic asphixation. He was found naked in a closet with a rope around his neck and “other body parts”.”

Ah, ignorant roundeye. You fail to recognize the secret qi gong technique by which the Master creates massive amounts of chi (internal energy) and raises it along the body meridians to the brain. How else can he coordinate the Many and Unite them into the One?

Ancient Secret available on DVD from Won Hung Lo Publishing, 1214 Hangkow St , Hong Kong. for only 12 euros. No dollars please.

  25. jeer9 Says:

The Magic will make it a series yet, provided they win game 2. They’re unlikely to shoot 30% again, even if that fierce Faker defense cuts down on the open threes.

  26. Scott Herbst Says:

    I’m for the Lakers.
