NOM Remix

Gay marriage threatens to put us on a terrifying slippery slope:

Intellectual property policy angle here.

  1. Ted Says:

There’s real comic potential for a remix here.

But we need to up the production values a bit, I think.

  2. Don Williams Says:

Re Matthew’s comment “Gay marriage threatens to put us on a terrifying slippery slope:”
    —————
A Freudian psychoanalyst could have a lot of fun with that statement.

  3. Adam Villani Says:

Fun fact: that song was co-written by David Letterman bandleader Paul Shaffer.

  4. James Robertson Says:

What I love is seeing Matt up in arms over the opponents of gay marriage, but completely ok with the President bowing to a king. And not just any king, but the king of the misogynist, gay killing Saudi Arabia.

Symbolism mattered a lot, right up until the Republicans lost power. At which point, it became irrelevant.

  5. joe from Lowell Says:

Ah, the outrage du jour. Don’t worry, James: there’s no way this is going to go the way of tire gauges and Greek columns. You really got that wascally wabbit now!

  6. SLC Says:

Even worse, President Osama is inviting same sex families to the White House annual Easter egg roll. Oh the shame and indignity of it all (snark).

  7. Adam Villani Says:

Golly, James Robertson, you’re right. You’d never see an America-loving Republican like George Bush bow to the King of Saudi Arabia. Oh no wait, maybe you would:

Feel free to call us back when you Republicans have a real issue to which you’d like to contribute something worthwhile.

  8. Ed Marshall Says:

If you watch the video he’s leaning in to hear something, and he’s like a foot taller than Faud. All the rest of the people around make the same “bow”. Muslims don’t bow to humans anyway, it’s not a part of Arab protocol.

  9. Led Says:

Actually, Adam Villani, it looks like Bush was leaning forward to receive a medal (for what, I know not). Of course, Obama was leaning down to give a two handed hand shake, so it amounts to the same thing. Nothing.

  10. Don Williams Says:

Well, if we’re going to conflate a ” terrifying slippery slope to gay marriage”, Saudi royals, and Bush , then how about this news photo:

    ———
ha ha ha. Just how badly do you want that oil shipment, Mr President?

  11. Don Williams Says:

    Ah, bugger. Try this link:

  12. Tyro Says:

Jim Bob, you’ve managed to talk smack about MattY on the piracy issue while completely ignoring other posts he’s made on the topic while shooting off your fat, ignorant mouth about whatever you were told to be outraged about by the right wing hate machine that you obediently follow. Get a life and act like an adult before your children realize what an embarassment you are.

If you didn’t spent your like kowtowing to the right-wing hate machine and mindlessly parroting their talking points, you’d get a bit more respect– as it is, everyone views you as a toady trying to suck up to your betters in the hope they’ll recommend you for country club membership. You might want to find a real job that doesn’t force you to be such a tool.

Symbolism won us a war, but we then squandered the victory with a lack of significant photo ops from 2004-2006. We can’t afford to let that happen again. Get me my PR man! We’ve got a country to run.

  14. James Robertson Says:

I didn’t like Bush – the last one or his father – making nice with the Saudis, either. It’s entirely possible to dislike any kowtowing to nasty regimes.

  15. Tyro Says:

Jim Bob, you don’t give a shit about the Saudis, you’re mouthing off at whatever right wing outrages of the day you were told to repeat, and you spent the last 8 years as a moral coward supporting W’s middle east policies and repeating right-wing tlaking points. So spare us your fake murdoch-fed outrage– you showed your true colors as a bush-loving cowardly toady for the right wing, and you’re simply continuing in that vein. This is just another one of your standard “Greek Column” tantrums that you mouth out about to give meaning to your pointless, worthless life of adherence that right-wing cult you’ve associated yourself with so that you don’t feel so alone and worthless in the world.

  16. Mike Hussein Cohen Says:

I’d rather watch this NOM to get rid of the bad taste.
