Vote for SUPERTRAINs

Increased rail funding is doing very well on a Change.gov list of ideas the public would like to see the President-elect embrace. Obviously, I don’t think this website is actually going to determine Obama administration policy. But you’re bound to wind up with an administration that contains some rail advocates, and it’s helpful to give those folks every possible piece of leverage they can find, so it’s worth clicking over and voting.

Voted it up. I also put in a special request for elevated, solar-powered monorail.

(OK, so I don’t know how to use this comment function very well)

There is a really good article over at Atlantic Monthly that brings together a bunch of different policy areas (energy, environment, public safety, economic effeciency) around the idea of revitalizing the nation’s rail and some outside the box thinking. It is a great and thought provoking read:

Remember what the mayor of Seattle told Campbell Scott’s character when he shot down Scott’s “Super Train” proposal? People like their cars. Great coffee and great music won’t make them like the Super Train more. Have we learned nothing from that movie?

I would point out that there are many “popular” pro-train topics on the change.gov website. It would nice if they could somehow lump all these votes into one supervote for supertrains…

Wow, with that many votes, Obama just might notice you before he bails out Hummer!

Hello, i’ve been browsing around your site and it looks really really neat. I’m building an automotive home page and struggling to make it look good, everytime I touch something I mess it up. How hard was it to build your site? Could someone like me with no experience do it, and add update pages without wrecking it every time?
