   Not cabinet-level, but Director Mueller has been there as well. It’s weird that there’s been almost zero speculation as to his successor.

    One thing about being a cabinet secretary? It takes a lot out of you. It’s hard work, after all, and there’s a certain measure of accountability when faced with scandal and catastrophic failure.

    All of this is to say that it figures, it’s not like she was doing anything the last eight years anyway.

    Yes, she IS weirdly anonymous — which is strange, since the official in charge of industrial relations and the union movement would be, in any other country, considered one of the most important officials in the country.

    In Australia, Julia Gillard is a household name. So was her predecessor, Joe Hockey. Admittedly, they oversee tumultuous times, but it’s a symbol of the utter imbalance in labour relations in your country that the cabinet secretary responsible is completely unknown and inert — even with her dubious accomplishment.
