On the plus side for humans in the inevitable war with the machines, there is a limited amount of steel in the world and it will get increasingly harder to get it. We, on the other hand, can turn a number of things into flesh and bones, as anyone who has ever witnessed the strange concoctions eaten by a pregnant woman can attest to. On the downside, they can build theirs to maturity. Ours come out all teeny and soft and it takes almost 2 decades for them to be of much use fighting the machines.
Now should the machines decide to make themselves out of some sort of carbon polymer that can be made from human flesh, then we’re fucked.
I found the bit at the end, where the robot, having reassembled itself and stood up, tries to take a step and falls over (only to be laughed at by its human tormentors) rather charming.

Nonsense. Most of the iron in the world is in a convenient liquid form.
Besides which, in episode four in season one, Skynet sent back Terminator Carter to secure a shipment of coltan alloy in a nuclear fallout shelter so it would be available after Skynet’s nuclear attack to make Terminators.
So Skynet is already thinking ahead, or, er…behind…whatever. (I hate time travel.)

In 50 years, intelligent robots will hunt down that guy doing the kicking and get their revenge.

In defense of this, we are also one step closer to the Iron Giant, as well.
