New Media Douchebags WTF

More coverage of how CAP is awesome:

The Center for American Progress, a D.C. think tank with close ties to President-elect Barack Obama, was the only American think tank to get a shout-out among the “best new think tanks [of the past five years].”

According to McGann, “Thanks to its all-star roster of exports and savvy use of new media, CAP has emerged as the intellectual center of Democratic D.C.”

Note that the “exports” typo is in the original — I’m not the only one who can’t spell.

I dunno. Maybe they really mean exports.

  2. Clark Says:

BTW, you can generally spell just fine. But you mangle grammar and confuse homophones.

Is this Matt or Jennifer Palmieri?

  5. Peter Driscoll Says:

Matt would have written expats and been right.

    Matt,
Speaking of spelling mistakes, don’t you mean “FTW”, not “WTF”?

  8. steve duncan Says:

No, “exports” was intended. If you go to their web site they are marketing a fine line of shirts, belts and shoes especially targeted to the Asian nations of the Pacific rim.

  9. Don Williams Says:

If CAP is so smart, why did you guys let Harry Reid step in deep dogshit in the last two weeks?

Here Obama is about to be sworn in as President and Rush Limbaugh is saying Reid’s opposition to Burris just continues the long Democratic tradition of segregation against blacks (Lester Maddox, George Wallace, etc.)

As the New York Times noted, you know you’re having a bad week when Rush Limbaugh is calling you a racist.

I and most other commenters here TOLD you Reid was making a big mistake, but did you listen? NOOooooo

  10. Mike Says:

Doesn’t “exports” just refer to the regular shipments from CAP to the Obama Administration?

  11. alkali Says:

I think MY can spell; he just refuses to.

    That was my first thought.

McGann’s study also saluted the D.C.-based Cato Institute as the “top think tank for innovative ideas.”

    ….

No but seriously, Matt should print out the article and frame it and put it on the wall so when that fascist Jennifer Palmeri comes storming into the blog center with her jackboot thugs b/c Matt has deviated from the ideological line of the day, he can point to it and tell her to back off, man!

  13. Dan Miller Says:

Couldn’t “exports” refer to all the people leaving CAP and going to the White House etc?

  14. Mayor of Munchkin City Says:

Jennifer! Stop putting press releases on Matt’s blog.

  15. joejoejoe Says:

CAP tried to export you to Finland but Finland exported you back.

  16. Bosch's Poodle Says:

Don Williams – Please clarify for me…when exactly did we start giving a sh*t what Rush Limbaugh says?

  17. 24AheadDotCom Says:

Wow, the industry gave itself an award. Of course, it might be helpful to point out that Cato isn’t “anti-incumbent, anti-Washington”. It might also be helpful to point out where they get their money from.

Regarding CAP, I’ve been laughing at them for a few years, because they almost always get things wrong. Further, ThinkProgress is an extremly childish, low-wattage blog. The only thing different between them and MattY is that they’re sleazier. Both frequently engage in LogicalFallacies, omit key facts, construct strawmen, and so on.

  18. Zaid Says:

““Cato’s libertarian stance, once viewed as fringe, is now considered respectable,” McGann wrote. “With its anti-incumbent, anti-Washington attitude, Cato has antagonized liberals with its push to privatize Social Security, as well as conservatives with its vigorous opposition to the Iraq war.””

Cato is respectable? I think they’d privatize the air if they could.
