By Brian Beutler
A hearty thanks to Matt for opening his site up to me. In addition to being an all around great and brilliant guy, Matt’s also my “blogfather” (or one of my blogfathers) and certainly one of the people who has most influenced my own approach to the medium. The bad news is that he’s much, much better at this game than I am. So you can expect my posts to be both less frequent and less insightful than his.
A bit about me: I like to write about politics, Congress, climate change and issues, like domestic surveillance and torture, at the nexus of national security and civil liberties. In the interest of shaming Petey, if such a thing is possible, it’s true: I’m not bulletproof. I, like Wolverine, am perfectly penetrable by bullets. Unlike Wolverine, unfortunately, it takes me a bit longer to heal.
Oh well.
At any rate, I’ll be focusing most of my attention on this site this week, but will probably check in at my own site from time to time. I hope some of you follow me there.

Petey classy as ever:
Given the relevant history, I’d say Brian’s bulletproofing is quite weak indeed.
What’s the old saying, a conservative is just a liberal who’s been mugged? Just don’t go conservative on us mate and hope this year is good for you and makes up for last year.

Hi Brian. I keep forgetting to check (and comment) on your blog and your guest role here will help to get me in the habit of finding your blog more often. Have a good and productive visit here and best wishes for 2009 and beyond.

Bring your A-game this week. Show us what you’ve got.
(Also, excellent diavlog with TNC on Bloggingheads.)

I’m incredibly happy that you’re healthy, Brian. I just like correcting Matthew.

While his insightfulness is inconsistent, it’s the frequency of posting that makes Matthew bizarre.
I have no idea what his workflow is like, and I suspect he either has some kind of intern, or is just repeating ideas fed to him by some email list(s), but if not, he’s kind of a freak. (And “freak” is not an insult in this context.)

I am glad to have you with us. I finally bookmarked your site, I have been a bit careless about that lately.

Just so you promise not to say anything bad about Third Way.

I’d say that too.

I do hope you’ll throw in the occasional bizarre misspelling, though. Or something that indicates you posted the thing without reading it, anyway. This post, for one, doesn’t indicate much of a commitment to the Yglesias Method.

“Just so you promise not to say anything bad about Third Way.”
OK. I’ll finally end the charade and admit that I’m actually Jennifer Palmieri.
Our institution has partnered with Third Way on a number of important projects. The comments of Notorious P.A.T. are his own, and do not reflect the views of the Center for American Progress.

In point of fact, Wolverine is highly resistant to bullets; his adamantium-laced exoskeleton prevents a lot of serious organ damage. Are you perhaps suggesting that you, too, have a skeleton infused with a super-hard metal, but that it totally negates your healing factor?
Oh, and welcome aboard.
January 31st, 2009 at 3:38 pm
Er. There were supposed to be “pedant” and “/pedant” tags around that…

Well, while we’re pointing out pedantic “facts” about Wolverine, I guess I’d point out that Wolverine’s Adamantium-laced skeleton is on the INside of his skin, which means it ain’t an exoskeleton.

Welcome back, Brian!

No offense, but I was wondering if there’s a way to read the site with just Matt’s post? Again, no offense, but I come here to read his opinions.

Someone who reads comment. This will be an interesting experiment.
