It is not just warm or cold. There is a THIRD WAY: the weather is whatever the Weather Channel says it is. Always seek the THIRD WAY. U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!
I was seventh to post? This blog is going to break some records today, as people have the tab open for the whole day at work. Matt’s going to wait til 5 to respond just to be perverse, and to pad stats.
Most readers know that the views expressed on Matt’s blog are his own and don’t always reflect the views of the Center for American Progress Action Fund. Such is the case with regard to Matt’s comments about the weather. Our institution has partnered with the westher on a number of important projects – including a homeland security project – and have a great deal of respect for its critical thinking and excellent work product. It is key a leader in the progressive movement and we look forward to working with it in the future.
Why is the THIRD WAY afraid? Because the SEVENTH WAY ate the NINTH WAY!
Knock-knock. Who’s there? Jennifer. Jennifer who? Jennifer, your corporate overlord who gets to spank you like an eight ounce baby whenever she wants to, that’s who!
You know it wouldn’t be so bad if Jennifer Palmieri was some young, stunning hot shot. Then we could chalk things up to arrogance and inexperience but that’s not the situation here. Writing deep thoughts about climate change crap does not endear you to us Ms. Palmieri.
Look I supported Matt’s leaving the Atlantic: The comments section there was pure molasses, but surely he realizes that the credibility of the blog has suffered massively in the last 24 hours.
Better rapid swings in the weather than hyper-timid climatological incrementalism.
I think the president-elect needs to partner with an alliance of progressive think tanks, policy shops and moneybags to embark on a fundamental restructuring of the way the Homeland Security Department mnanages our weather.
The way Matt keeps ignoring the elephant in the room while he desperately tries to fill his own blog with enough posts to push the Palmieri post off the front page is looking pretty ridiculous.
Or maybe this whole thing was just a scheme to augment comments and page views before the holidays.
My Deep Thought:
MY said: Third Way is a neat organization — I used to work across the hall from them. … But their domestic policy agenda is hyper-timid incrementalist bullshit.
I think that says a lot coming from MY who is a neat guy but his policy agenda is hyper-timid incrementalist ….
Well on second though, maybe it is MY. After all he never acknowledges mistakes or comments, except for Petey. His interaction with his readers is de minimis, which frankly, is rude. Sullivan maybe a fascist for no comments but at least he responds sometimes.
Then again, I had hoped Ms. Palmieri would run a different blog but I may have been mistaken.
As a retaliation Yglesias has given the blog over to every blogger he knows! The posts about the Bailouts are from Kevin drum, Ezra wrote the one about the crowd control, and now Atrios is doing his thing!!
In the mean time he’s writing an extensive post why Jennifer Palmieri felt it necessary to compromise his blog to kiss up to the third way and how that influences this blog. Because surely he wouldn’t ignore that after seeing that his reading are severely pissed off about it.
Kos has now commented on this whole affair, which means that it’s only a manner of time before we start seeing posts from the Corner, MM, and Red State about how this type of censorship is typical of the “liberal” “Left-wing” Marxist mind-set. (sigh)
What I think is really interesting is that so much of what is fueling all of these comments and outcry is the genuine strangeness of both Jennifer’s post and Matt’s (up to now) non-reaction to it.
So strong is Matt’s reputation for saying what he thinks, combined with the rather informal tone of his blog (and all of his previous blogs, personal and professional), that his silence now (or up to now) is genuinely freaking out his regular readers.
The normally thoughtful Yglesias
Is defending his hard-earned persuasiveness
A corporate tooth-fairy
By the name of Palmieri
Has left him the gift of faint prejudice
Welp…. looks like Matt isn’t going to comment directly on this Third Way/CAP strangeness, which means I just can’t trust what is said on this blog anymore.
Congratulations, Jennifer Palmieri, you just cost this blog at least one reader.
I would just like to say, that we here at Think Progress appreciate the blogging that Matt does. We also have a very good relationship with cold weather and have partnered with them on many occasions. We wish to make it clear that comments made by Matt do not reflect the opinion of the Think Progress management, or that of our affiliate partners.
Yo, fuck Palmieri, despite her title, just she’s middle management.
Matt: Who is bringing the hammer down on you? I know the economy sucks and it’s scary out there right now, but if people are trying to silence you, you need to air their names out.
… say’s the political commentator. Good thing we don’t have to listen to any pesky scientists who study the phenomenon regularly and can go with our “gut feelings.”
Well on second though, maybe it is MY. After all he never acknowledges mistakes or comments, except for Petey. His interaction with his readers is de minimis, which frankly, is rude. Sullivan maybe a fascist for no comments but at least he responds sometimes.
I’m assuming it’s irony that’s simply too short and leaden to come off. In other words, it’s thoughtless, resulting in either an inadvertent right-wing talking point or a Zen koan. Fewer posts would do wonders for the qualify of this site.
This whole fiasco has been the most entertaining thing to ever happen on this blog. I have been laughing out loud through several comment sections already…
I think it’s obvious that “Deep Thought” is a joke post. I mean, come on. Lame, maybe, but probably an attempt to lighten things up after Palmieri dropped this ton of bricks on him.
Whatever’s going on behind the scenes right now, I’m sure it’s not pleasant for Matt. Let’s support him, and rag on him. Palmieri is the one who deserves to be piled on. I think she should publicly apologize to him.

Now we know Jennifer Palmieri’s views on the weather. Also Third Way’s official opinions.
Just remember, Matt Yglesias is no longer writing on this blog. It’s been hijacked by Palmieri, CEO of Center for American Progress. Sad, that.
This is really sad.
December 22nd, 2008 at 10:42 am
Holy shit. What the hell is going on? The cold weather is least of the concerns that needs to be conclusively debunked Matt.
December 22nd, 2008 at 10:42 am
This deep thought is officially approved by Jennifer and represents the views of CAP.
December 22nd, 2008 at 10:42 am

I take it that, due to the absence of clarifying posts, we can assume CAP supports global warming denial?
December 22nd, 2008 at 10:44 am
Is it Matt being sarcastic, or is it Jennifer’s genuine deep thought?
December 22nd, 2008 at 10:44 am
Damn, too slow. There were no other comments when I was writing mine…
December 22nd, 2008 at 10:45 am
Matt, is the perfect spelling and grammar meant as a dog whistle to your regular readers?
December 22nd, 2008 at 10:46 am
Maybe Third Way had Matt whacked.
December 22nd, 2008 at 10:46 am
I’ll bet the IPCC is on the horn to Palmieri as we speak.

At this point, titling a post “Deep Thought” is obviously just throwing chum in the water.
December 22nd, 2008 at 10:50 am
When I’ve finished drinking this glass of milk, I’m going to drop the glass.
It won’t smash, it won’t float, it’ll find a Third Way into the dishwasher.
December 22nd, 2008 at 10:50 am
Does Matt Yglesias actually exist? Does Finland actually exist? Has anyone seen Yglesias and Finland in the same room? Yglesias is Finland I say!

Why did the Acting CEO cross the road? To get to the THIRD WAY!
December 22nd, 2008 at 10:57 am
Strangely enough, the Third Way post is one-third of the way down the front page now.

He doesn’t read his own blog.

The topic is quite hot in the net right now. What do you pay the most attention to while choosing what to write ?
