The Lame Duck

Funny chyron from MSNBC:

The president-elect working hard while the president is hardly working. Of course, given what we’ve seen from the Bush administration it’s probably just as well that he stick to pardoning turkeys and leave the policy response to Obama’s team. If only he’d thought of this strategy when he first moved in to the White House.

That will really piss the Armenians off.

Unfortunately, Bush is not content to deal with real turkeys, but is also pushing policy turkeys. Article in the Times today has Rice trying (unsuccessfully, no doubt) to twist arms in NATO to expedite Georgia and Ukraine admission.

Is Norah the “turkey” in question?

Sure, you might think that pardoning a Turkey is “hardly working,” but I’ll tell you: pulling that off smoothly is trickier than it looks.

And we thought Sarah Palin was doing the turkey duty this year…… Bush should settle for lame duck l’orange.

I never really understood the “pardon the Turkey” thing. Does that mean they aren’t eating any turkey for their thanksgiving mean. I doubt it. Just another example of “Scooter Libby” justice for some turkeys, and “Sarah Palin” justice for others.

A completely appropriate division of labor, to the turkey.

My wife pointed out that Bush’s current semi-retirement came close on the heels of his WH meeting with Obama, in which Obama supposedly made it crystal clear that there was to be only *one* President at a time.

I think maybe Bush drew the wrong conclusion as to whom Obama was referring. Or maybe not…

But that’s just what Bush did. He spent his time choking on pretzels while Cheney ran the government.
