Wow. That game was excruciating to watch. Not just losing, or even especially getting blown out, but really being ground down into nothing in a depressing way. May Tuesday night go better than Monday.

Of course, when the Redskins lose, the party out of power wins the election (except in 2004), so this is a good omen, I guess.
They changed it to the party that lost the popular vote in the previous presidential election wins. So it still works, even for 2004.
A resounding Steelers’ victory is a fine omen for Pennsylvania tomorrow!
Roethlisberger cheering on Leftwich with one arm was nice too.
And, hey, McCain and Palin have spent the last few weeks pandering to the racism of working-class whties who live in the western half of the state and live for a team with a black coach, biracial receiver, Samoan safety and outstanding African-American backup who came in tonight and was just outstanding.
As a big Steelers fan, I’m obviously very happy about this. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, I now live in upstate NY. I was making calls for Obama into PA until 8:30, when I was sure to stop calling Western PA because, lord knows, you don’t want to make a Steelers fan choose between football and Obama. I just hope others didn’t interrupt the game and piss people off… both in PA and VA. Of course, if that’s what makes the difference, then that’s bad news already.
I remember volunteering in Pittsburgh four years ago and getting the ‘tour’ of the campaign HQ. One of things that I overheard was a Clinton ‘92 veteran staffer telling someone on the phone emphatically that you DO NOT phone bank western PA during a Steelers game. Politics is important, but that town and that whole region live and die by the Stillers.
Pittsburgher here. I’m thanking the Steelers for my quick voting this morning. I live in a predominately, white, old, blue-collar city neighborhood. I arrived at the polling place at 7:00, left at 7:05. I think the retirees are waiting until after 9:00 and lots of Stillers fans slept in. Plus my neighborhood has a high city employee ratio and those folks have the day off. It was a good night last night and I’m hoping for another tonight!
At least the Skins are still comfortably ahead of the Cowboys. The Eagles could be a problem though.
The way the Redskins have played at home this year, they’re likely to be killed by the Giants and Eagles in a few weeks, and it will be particularly embarrassing, because like the Steelers game, you just know there will be as many Giants and Eagles fans at the games as Redskins fans.
Unfortunately, almost no one in Washington is really from Washington, and so this is a persistent problem at Washington sporting events.
And which would you rather eat, a Left-wich, or a Roethlis-burger?
Sorry, the eating thing was a silly thing I thought of last night when I realized both the Steelers quarterbacks had names that sounded like sandwiches. Just a dumb afterthought I added to the comment. Don’t think to hard about it.
How about some Big Ben’s Beef Jerky? And because we live in such a multicultural world there’s now teriyaki flavor too! Yum yum! Why, I bet this tastes just like the beef jerky they must eat in Japan! Talk about authentic!
There was an Obama card (or whatever you call those things that hang from the doorknob) on my door yesterday. Not sure if it’s all the doors or just registered Democrats or what. But, man, people are out in force.
I keep seeing the all-in-caps use of the word “FAIL” on the blogosphere of late. Is this an allusion to something I’ve missed? Or an acronym? Pop culture reference?
(AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars came off the field at halftime thrilled with a 14-3 lead over the undefeated Tennessee Titans. Playing a team that had won nine straight, though, called for more than a half’s worth of effort. Kerry Collins

Republican lawyers are already challenging the score. We’ll find out after the emergency hearings tomorrow.
November 4th, 2008 at 2:45 am
So yeah, I’m in Pittsburgh, but I was going to quote that rule about kicking the bums out when the Redskins lose, too.
Seriously, they were taking one for the (larger) team. A noble sacrifice, if I may say so.

Leftwich.
That kid is the man.

- I’m pretty sure the rule only applies to Redskins’ home games, and that looked like a Steelers’ crowd to me.

The team with the racist name loses the night before the election? Let’s hope it’s an omen.

I hope it goes just the same as the game you watched with John Sidney McCain being in the place of the Redskins.
