I need to expand on Nate Silver. Many of us who are geeks have spent our lives trying to create some non-geeky image to hide our geekiness. Nate hasn’t. He’s got that “I’m a geek and you’re just going to have to deal with it” attitude. And it works for him. It’s honest, and in a weird way, sexy. I watch him on TV, and he’s intelligent but clumsy. Just like I’d be, except they’ll never let me on TV. But his clumsy ways are actually very endearing. If there is such a thing as “Geek Chic”, Nate has it. But it only works if you’re comfortable being a geek. I’ve tried, but I can’t do it.

I’ve watched a lot of Bloggingheads videos, and Mr.Klein actually manages to look good in those, which judging from EVERY other video on that site, is a huge accomplishment.

I wasn’t familiar with Nate Silver until he also discussed the dumb BHO voters poll. Oddly enough, his take (fivethirtyeight.com/2008/11/zogby-engages-in-apparent-push-polling.html) is similar to my earlier attempt (including both using the word “veracity”), but with the difference that I’m not a hack. I’ll be adding him to the first UPDATE section of post later. I can see why he was so hyped: he’s not very bright.
As for Ezra Klein, he’s not very bright either.

I first met Nate about six years ago, when we were both just dudes posting on a baseball website (right before he sold himself to BP with PECOTA). On rare occasions, we’ve gotten together for beers or lunch since then. I’ve gotta say, I find this pretty hilarious, in a good way. But man, more power to him.

Before I get accused of a man crush on Nate, let me make this clear. I have a geek crush on him. We geeks don’t ever make the news, so when one of us make it, it’s way cool. And if the guy is proud to be a geek, it’s even cooler. We all wish we could be there. And if some hot chick is standing in front of Nate’s screen, then she needs to move to the side. We want to see his data. Naked hot chicks are easy to find on the internet, good data isn’t. What’s sexy now?

Nah, David Plouffe’s got a little too much of the Steve Buscemi thing going on. Rahm is indeed quite scary, but nonetheless hot.

I saw Nate Silver on DL Hughey’s CNN show before the election and he didn’t look sexy. But I’m a hetero guy, so maybe I’m missing something. The incoming head of the Office of Management and Budget is too sexy for his shirt. And he’s divorced. Look out ladies! Hopefully he keeps blogging.
