Eagelburger’s Walkback

I wonder what they threatened to do to his dog to get him to retract his Obama endorsement? It would seem very strange for a seasoned veteran of high-level politics and policy to accidentally endorse the wrong presidential candidate.

I don’t know, but that clip reminded me of the Costa-Gavras movie about the Stalinist show trials.

  2. John Says:

    Huh? He never endorsed Obama.

  3. Miatch Says:

He didn’t endorse Obama. He just said that he didn’t think Palin was qualified to be president, in terms of her knowledge of foreign affairs. Then he said that with enough study she could become adequate on the matter.
Then he came back the next day and said that was a very foolish thing to say and that of course he believed Palin was a foreign policy genius.

  4. JIm Says:

Yeah, he didn’t come close to endorsing Obama. He said McCain was by far the better candidate wrt foreign policy, which kind of surprised me because I always thought Eagleburger was skeptical of the blinkered militarism of Bush et al, and McCain’s only real conviction seems to be “Bomb’em till they submit!”

  5. David Says:

    Duberstein, not Eagleberger.

Although it’s hard to keep the usual
suspects straight, since they keep being
    recycled in every GOP admin/campaign.

  6. Professor Booty Says:

Obviously, the GOP has dirt on most of its higher-ups — they are all wife-swappers and/or pederasts and/or prescription drug addicts. When one steps out of line, they can blackmail them back onto the rez. I wish I were not serious.

  7. John Says:

David – Matthew’s link is about Eagleburger, not Duberstein. I can find no evidence that Duberstein has withdrawn his endorsement.

  8. Sam Retsbew Says:

Does this mean that Eagelburger morphed into a chicken sandwich?

  9. pneogy Says:
