Change.gov

That’s the URL for the official Obama-Biden Transition Project. Just at the moment if you navigate over there you’ll be prompted for a password.

For the record, username:jbiden/password:joesixpack does not gain access.

  2. cmholm Says:

But, if it did gain access, you’d quickly get a taste of Federal computer tampering law enforcement.

  3. James Robertson Says:

And the only change will be which interest groups get to feed from the federal gravy train. I love the excitement on the left for all this change. I should start an over/under pool on how soon the crushing disappointment sets in when it becomes clear that Obama is just another Chicago pol.

  4. dbt Says:

No chicago pol has ever won the white house. So he’s already not just another.

  5. James Robertson Says:

Fine, he’s a Chicago machine pol who’s managed to bring the fine Chicago style of politics to the White House. Oh happy day :)

  6. jg Says:

And the only change will be which interest groups get to feed from the federal gravy train.

Also the train will be funded. That’s one important difference you forgot.

    Who cares, Bush is gone.

  7. James Robertson Says:

    Funded?

I was just listening to a Bloomberg news podcast – they had an economist on who was explaining how deficits don’t matter, so long as the percentage of GDP is below 80%.

I seem to recall Democrats yammering a lot when Cheney said that a few years ago; how times change.

  8. MS Says:

So Matt, you being 9th most powerful person in America, I assume you have access?

  9. DMonteith Says:

It’s nice to see Mr. Robertson’s concern about the “Chicago democratic machine” matching his cri de coeur for the past eight years over the “Texas republican machine/good ol’ boy network”. At least he’s not a fucking hypocritical hack like some conservatives…

  10. pseudonymous in nc Says:

Who’s going to stand up for white-flight exurbanites like Robertson now, apart from David Brooks and the majority of the American political establishment? The horror!

  11. James Robertson Says:

I’m not concerned with the Chicago machine so much as I like to point out the obvious difference between what Obama is (A Chicago pol) and what so many of his backers seem to think he is (some sort of political messiah). No one on the right had illusions about President Bush in 2000; rather, he entered office with the conservative base having its doubts.

Obama enters office with his base having stratospheric expectations – which will be dashed simply because Obama is a political animal, not a political savior.

  12. Nick Kaufman Says:

What? THEY GAVE PASSWORDS ONLY TO THE 8 MORE POWERFUL PEOPLE IN THE COUNTRY????

    FOR SHAME!!!1111

  13. Cotter Says:

Government computer security we can believe in.

That doesn’t work either! Man, now I’m stumped.

what Obama is (A Chicago pol)

That’s strange, Senator McCain and his running told me (paraphrasing here) that Obama is a naive noob who will be eaten alive by Vladimir Putin. Which is it?

  17. Tyro Says:

I remember Bush supporters telling me that he was going to be surrounded by the best people who were going to give him good advice.

The funny thing is that Bush supporters were never really disappointed in Bush. It’s not that Bush supporters didn’t have high expectations — it’s that they never felt let down, in the face of the evidence; they just maintained their delusions about him and his presidency.

  18. Peter K. Says:

And the only change will be which interest groups get to feed from the federal gravy train. I love the excitement on the left for all this change.

If Obama and the smarter Democrats are successful – and there’s a good chance they will be depending on how we define success – I am going to enjoy watching the dumber conservatives flail about. Just grab some popcorn and enjoy the show.

  19. Emrys Says:

Change.gov is obviously a U.S. Government URL. How can it be the “official Obama-Biden Transition Project?” If it is, which department is housing it? Under what aegis does it reside?

  20. roac Says:

The transition office is being set up in an office building in downtown DC. Its location is a secret. It can’t possibly be the one on 6th St. NW that has suddenly sprouted Jersey barriers and fleets of cars with lights on top.

  21. MaryMac Says:

No one on the right had illusions about President Bush in 2000; rather, he entered office with the conservative base having its doubts.

Illusions? How about delusions? What, after all, was there to be ‘illusional’ about? Surely you jest. I am absolutely surprised it took the vast majority of Americans (and some still refuse to admit it)to see what was apparent and evident from the start. I knew Bush (and his minions) was going to be a self serving president, but even I still cannot believe this moron was the president of the most powerful nation in the world. No wonder our country lost respect around the world. Thankfully, we now have a President-elect who will bring the respect and honor back that the USA so deserves. Yes, change we can BELIEVE in.

  22. joe Says:

Respect back to the USA, how by giving in to others demands?

  23. MaryMac Says:

Respect back to the USA, how by giving in to others demands?

Joe – Presumably, you are referring to Pres Elect Obama. Might I ask, if, in fact your reference is to Obama, what exactly it is that you believe he gave “in to others demands?” about?

    Bush has been a self serving, do it my way or the highway, president. He is too stubborn to “give in” as you call it;
Did you ever think that maybe Bush gave them exactly what they wanted? Ever think he played right into their hands? Bush attacked the absolute wrong venue. He takes the cowboy approach: “Shoot now, ask questions later.” Good if your performing in a Spaghetti Western, not good if you’re the President of the United States.

As an American citizen, I find Bush to be a total embarassment to this country. I look forward to having an intelligent, well spoken, articulate, RESPECTED (around the world, apparently, excepting one obnoxious person who Ms. Palin can, in all likelihood, see from her bathroom window)person leading our country and bringing back its core value system. Obama, you have my praise and you got my vote!!

  24. Jewel Boswell Hudson Says:

I have an idea about the money left over from the campaign.
I would like for the President elect Obama to make it scholarship money for the College kids with a C+ grades, WHY?
Most of these kids are worried about money and this effect their study habits.
My second commit would be on the job for the Atty. Gen. of the USA CHARLES OLGETREE!
Its been 45 years since I walked across the Pettus Bridge and just to see Barack Obama as my President is joyful…this hard job is yours, do it your way! Don’t worry old women like me will make sure that our congressmen, senators, and Pelose and Reid hear from us daily, we want them to follow an agenda put forward by Barack Obama not Pelose or Reid.
