It would look even more compelling (although perhaps be less accessible) if you used one of those maps which distorted the size of the states to match their population.
All right, this is almost as annoying when the left does it as when the right does it (almost because the left does have good cause to argue that there has been a leftward shift).
It makes no sense to talk about a center right or center left nation when we have no agreed upon metric of comparison. Center left compared to what? There is no objective “center line” with which we may compare. Certainly we are center right compared to Europe, and probably center left compared to where we were a few years ago. But I’m not sure that that tells us much, nor is it how the terms are being used.
Trolling as usual I see. Proven wrong on literally everything you have ever posted on this site, you just have to find a reason to complain. Oh noes, the Dems are only up by 79 in the House and (pending unresolved races) at least 12 in the senate, probably more. Gains or 20 house seats, and at least 4 senate seats.
Now, I may be biased, as someone who, despite loathing the modern GOP to a greater degree than even most people on this site, wouldn’t like to see completely unrestrained exercise of power by the Dems, but that doesn’t strike me as cause for complaint.
Petey’s recent shtick is arguing that even though the Democrats have ignored all his advice and had great success, they would be doing even better if they had actually followed his advice. Obviously that is an unfalsifiable claim, which is good for Petey since his falsifiable claims have a nasty habit of being falsified.
To be fair, if the Democrats had followed his advice and nominated John Edwards, congressional and Senate Republicans would not have had the advantage of arguing against the prospect of a unified government. So there’s that.

John McCain limped onto the national stage in 1973 — and now he’s limping going off.

Oh, I’d say we’re pretty damn conservative – about 40% or so – and that bloc is never going away.
All last night proved was that, as Billmon said a long time ago, the US is divided a lot like this
