Thought of the Day

John McCain might want to worry about his large, outside-the-margin-of-error lead in both national and state-by-state polling before he worries about the prospect of someone voting in Florida, then coming back and trying to vote a second time under the name “Mickey Mouse.”

Why does he need to worry about his “lead in both national and state-by-state polling”? Perhaps he should be worrying about his deficit.

Alternate Thought of the Day: Matthew Yglesias might want to read his blogposts before he hits “send”.

Did someone just turn off everyone’s capacity to understand sarcasm?

Really? You think this was intentional?

I suppose it’s possible — Matt does make lots of dumb copy editing errors, but he also is often sarcastic.

I guess it’s a good combination to keep us on our toes.

…Or worry about dozens of his supporters getting written up by Secret Service or cops for hate crimes…

WTF! Mickey Mouse is a Florida resident! I’ve seen him there myself. How dare you accuse him of voter fraud?

Matthew Yglesias: Sarcastic or just a hasty writer? We’ll never know.

The left persists in its pernicious discrimination against Imaginary Americans . . .

  10. Jason Says:

ACORN is a good organization with flawed members. Republican majorities thrive on low voter turnout, especially by the poor and minorities. It’s natural they would turn a few bad apples into a massive voter fraud story so they have cover when they engage in the same voter intimidation and unfair purges they do every election.

Any organization that gets more people voting is a threat to the Republican party’s very existence. That’s the root of this story. The story on election day may very well be high voter turnout amongst people who haven’t voted before, and now the GOP has an excuse for it, and a vehicle to pass laws making it harder for people to vote.

It’s a massive scam, worse than a Mickey Mouse or two getting into the voting booth.

  11. Michael Mouse Says:

Tell me about it. Voting under my nickname is nearly impossible.

I’d be more convinced if there weren’t such antipathy amongst many liberals towards requiring that a voter show ID before he can vote.
