Things I Would Show Up For

In all seriousness, I would love to be on this panel.

Relatedly, read Dana Goldstein’s article on “The Conservative Case for Urbanism”.

Um….apparently you are (if I’m reading correctly).

“Transportation, Infrastructure, Urban Planning, Professional Licensing, and Zoning – Liberal policy wonks Matt Yglesias and Ryan Avent are given 15 minutes each to convince attendees that the policies they tend to favor are neither free market nor conservative, and that the right-of-center principles they espouse demand a different agenda. Moderator Will Wilkinson is charged with keeping them honest.”

I heard this morning that Republicans have really scheduled a conference for Thursday Nov. 6th to do essentially what that post is joking about.

If I were the Confabulum guys, I’d be running like hell to actually set this thing up. There is an opening to be the voice and organizers of the rational conservative movement, which is small, but has to grow (maybe not this year, but eventually.) Doing this now would put them in great position to be influential in the wars to come…

Confabulum should also host an ironic confab in some horrible little town in a red state – so as to make the point re the Palintariat.

Well, the obvious venue for such a conference–particular one in December or January–is here.
