Oh Dear
I wonder how the negotiators hit upon this figure:
West Palm Beach Congressman Tim Mahoney (D-FL), whose predecessor resigned in the wake of a sex scandal, agreed to a $121,000 payment to a former mistress who worked on his staff and was threatening to sue him, according to current and former members of his staff who have been briefed on the settlement, which involved Mahoney and his campaign committee.
Mahoney, who is married, also promised the woman, Patricia Allen, a $50,000 a year job for two years at the agency that handles his campaign advertising, the staffers said.
Someone needs to learn that if he’s going to bother with expensive coverups, he needs to hire less leaky staff first!

He is a “blue dog”, a former Republican, and he’s my congressman. This guy might lose now. I guess having a Republican is worse, but Mahoney wasn’t exactly a choice politician.

At least this is a step up for the good people of West Palm. He was at least cheating on his wife with ‘of age’ women instead of delectable pages. Maybe this time WPB can aspire to electing a guy who actually wants to sleep with his own wife.

At least with the democrats it’s women! Your people always turn up trying to blow a cop in the bathroom or self-asphixiating in a wetsuit with a dildo in their ass, messing with the kiddies or paying hookers to diaper them. Nothing blackmailable about that…

This is West Palm Beach. They’re probably in year 4 of a gradual 10 year plan which will next involve a member of Congress being found stoned, passed out and naked on the beach on a Monday morning; then a pleasant person who merely commits adultery with women his own age, for free; then Jason Williams of the Miami Heat being elected to Congress. You don’t elect Mark Foley one term and then suddenly start electing decent people.

Shortly after this picture was taken the alligator bit the little girl on the right of Mahoney in the face as he held it. She was offered a ride in his Corvette and some ice cream back at his apartment if she kept quiet about it.

This guy is a former Republican and one of the guys Rahm Emanuel recruited to run in 2006. He was picked over a more progressive candidate and backed by the DCCC establishment. Thanks Rahm!

To the Palm Beach-bashers here, one thing to keep in mind is that this district is seriously gerrymandered. My sesnse is that Republicans win the district, not because of West Palm but because of the westward stretch across rural areas and to the more right-wing Naples area.
