   Speaking as a permanent resident of Taiwan, with a home, a business, a Taiwanese wife and three Taiwanese kids, I’m not particularly anxious to secede control of Taiwan’s air-space to those wonderful guys who brought you the Tiananmen Massacre.

   Besides, Taiwan pays cash and you Meiguoren look like you could use all the cash you can get right at the moment.

   Corporate America is already a part of the Bush administration. We’ve already seen what it ends up in. What about Cheney and Halliburton and former secretary Rumsfeld and Tamiflu?

   Who needs more of that sad tragedy?

   Thats certainly the most important point here, isn’t it? While Taiwanese independence should certainly be a goal of the U.S., approaching the issue with caution and humility isn’t something I’d trust McCain to do.

   Just to make it clear. Taiwan already have F-16 (Block A/B). What they are looking for is newer Block C/D F-16s. So it’s not a huge upgrade that will drastically change the balance of military power in the region.
