When John concluded by reflecting on the “long line of McCains” that have served the country, I thought he was finally going to bust out the big guns — “my dad was an admiral, his dad was a Muslim” would, unlike most of what he says, actually true.
When John concluded by reflecting on the “long line of McCains” that have served the country
Obama was pulling punches all night, but the one line that I think could have tripped McCain over would have been something like ‘You know, John, this election’s not about me, and it’s not about you.’
Because for John McCain, it’s all about John McCain.
John McCain needs to recognize that he has reached his peak in that “long line of McCains” as a U.S. Senator. For him to become president would involve operation of the Peter Principle.
I think what many have missed is McCain’s coded language when he spoke about Obama never having been “south of the border”. I think there was a less direct code when he asked who we could trust more as well. Taking those with the “categorical” defense of even his hate-filled supporters I found myself very upset with McCain’s divisive language.

That would be an outrageous smear against Muslims. Thank God he did not say that.

Alas, John Sidney McCain II isn’t half the man John Sidney McCain II was, and not a quarter the man John Sidney McCain I was. Devolution . . .

I thought Obama’s father was an atheist.

He was, but he was raised as a muslim.

I thought his father was Bill Ayers?

Obama’s dad was an athiest or agnostic. His father’s father was a muslim.

“my dad was an admiral, his dad was a Muslim”
I gave myself whiplash reading this. I thought you were saying that McCain’s grandfather was Muslim.

There’s a long line of McCain’s waiting for John in hell.

Not just that – his dad ran the Vietnam war.

Yes, I thought that too. Like Gen. Omar Bradley, perhaps?
