Campbell Brown

She’s been doing some good work lately. Credit where due.

    Da, ochen’ khorosho. (from 2/21/08)

For those who don’t want to watch a 10 second video, here’s the summary: she’s a tool.

O noez! The right wing whines about the big money medja bein’ librul agin! Quick, somebody make Fox Nooz II!

  5. maynardGkeynes Says:

Campbell Brown is not a complete moron. That puts her in the upper percentiles of the MSM. Sad to say.

  6. ssa Says:

NBC should have never let her go…

Although her pandering to right in order to satisfy CNN’s “balanced” tag annoys me. But all CNNers do it, so I can’t blame her.

  7. Jim Wolf Says:

This isn’t the first time that Brown has presented a editorial comment about the campaign(s). And like Matt did, I give her props for it.

  8. Matt Weiner Says:

I really shouldn’t be encouraging him, but can anyone tell what the hell lonedipshit’s video was supposed to illustrate? (Summary: She asks, “Senator Obama, is your position the same as Hillary Clinton’s?” That’s it.)

  9. El Cid Says:

Matt Weiner: I barely resisted the temptation to ask. Having seen the last couple of weeks, though, she was clearly nodding out a secret code for all the Muslimo-Weathermen bombers to form their sleeper cells so that Barack the Islamic Shock Hussein Al-Majlis Che Guevara Julius Nyerere Jomo Kenyatta Obama X could lead them into their glorious Marxist Al Gore Satanist Caliphate future.

  10. Tom Says:

You mean, she’s no longer plumping for Bush? Are we sure?

  11. Richard Steven Hack Says:

OK, let’s say I agree with Matt based on this one video.

Can somebody tell me when was the last time she mentioned that according to all known information, Iran does NOT have a nuclear weapons program, and there is little to ZERO evidence that they ever HAD a nuclear weapons program?

It’s nice to establish that you aren’t a racist or a bigot or a religious fanatic - but when your purpose in doing so is to establish even more dangerous bullshit in the public mind, as the entire MSM does with every article on Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan, it’s nothing to the purpose.

Every single article in the MSM about Iran always includes the “throwaway” sentence somewhere in the last half to last one third of the article to the effect that “Iran CLAIMS it’s nuclear program is peaceful”. Meanwhile, the rest of the article quotes all sorts of known idiots in the US government - and BOTH candidates - claiming all sorts of things about Iran which simply are either not established or entirely false or at best speculative.

A number of people pointed out how virtually EVERYTHING in the (now shelved) Congressional bills to establish a blockade of Iran which allegedly justified the bill was totally incorrect and misleading based on official US and IAEA information. Did the MSM ever spend one second addressing those factual corrections? Did any of the candidates?

    I think not.

So I think we need to wait before congratulating Campbell on being anything other than good looking.

    McClatchy News:

Deregulation era ends as government buys stakes in banks

By Kevin G. Hall | McClatchy Newspapers

WASHINGTON — When the sun set on the nation’s capital Tuesday, it marked the end of one era in the nation’s political economy and the beginning of another. American taxpayers, the proverbial Joe Six-Pack and Jane Wine-Box of campaign lore, had become partial owners of the nation’s nine leading banks, with more to come.

The Bush administration’s announcement that it would take ownership stakes in private banks marked a momentous shift away from a 30-year effort to get government out of business’s way and opened the door to a new era of government engagement with business in ways that are only starting to unfold.

The Era of Big Government Being Over Is Now OVER.

  13. Trevor Says:

Campbell, the dear girl, is as many know - married to Zionist neocon (Dan Senor) who was a key figure in the U.S. Occupation of Iraq. Whenever the subject comes up - she lauds Israel as “The Land of Milk and Honey”, and, of course as “America’s finest ally” and naturally a poor, innocent victim of “Islamic terrorism.” Cute as a button with the moral compass of a leech.

  14. Adam Says:

Hey Hack, when’s that war with Iran again? You know, the one you’ve spent all year warning us was sure to happen because the elites wouldn’t let Obama win? Any day now yes?

  15. El Cid Says:

Rush Limbaugh decides to rip the mask off and admit maybe he just doesn’t want any black listeners any more.

  16. 24AheadDotCom Says:

What’s funny - but ultimately incredibly sad - is that MattY’s readers have no clue what’s wrong with the question Brown asked. But, I guess that same level of intelligence explains BHO.

  17. matt Says:

24Ahead, I’ll take a stab at it. Is it that if Obama were Arab, then he’d be also lying about it? (And something is then wrong with that.) Likewise if he were a secret Muslim, though one wonders how he prays five times a day without anyone noticing.

  18. DJ Says:

gibber gibber gaagaagooo ISRAEL blahblah do re mi fa so la ZIONIST lambada bada bing

As for headUpAssCom, it’d help if oh-so-sad-no-clue-you-don’t-get-it whine was followed by an actual explanation. Or f**k off, either one will do.

  19. Matt Weiner Says:

matt, you’re wrong — the answer is blah blah blah immigration blah blah blah brown people blah blah Mexicans oh noes. Or, what DJ said, with heavy emphasis on the “fuck off” part.

  20. Matt McIrvin Says:

Rush Limbaugh has a black listener?

  21. RobDP Says:

Everyone’s (well, everyone like Campbell) is all “Oh wow I respect John McCain so much for correcting a woman on a point of fact.” But what exactly was his other option? “Yes, madam, you’re right, Obama is an arab.” On live TV? Gimme a break. John McCain didn’t do anything deserving of kudos.

But Campbell’s right about how it shouldn’t be a question, of course. Sepoy has been making this point since the Dark Ages.

  22. Richard Steven Hack Says:

It’s actually starting to look like Bush won’t start a war with Iran this year. Which certainly doesn’t make me feel bad.

Whether he’s going to do something bad in Pakistan shortly is still an open question, however. There is little doubt that the large base the US military is setting up in Pakistan is definitely for something more than “training Pakistanis”.

There still is a considerable incentive for Bush and Cheney to start something before the end of the year to tie the hands of whoever is the incoming President and insure that their military-industrial complex cronies continue to get the big contracts even as Iraq winds down and the US is kicked out of Iraq by Maliki, Sistani and Iran.

And of course, we still have Israel to worry about - quite a few people are convinced Israel will attack Iran within the next X months (”X” being from 3 to 18).

And finally, since Obama has no clue about Iran, the odds are good he’s going to start a war with them - but that might take him a year or more while he farts around with his incompetent “aggressive diplomacy” which will merely make matters worse. Not to mention that his shifting all the Iraq US forces over to Afghanistan and Pakistan will merely make those situations into HIS version of Iraq.

McCain, on the other hand, will bomb Iran within the first six months of his administration, if he wins. And probably also start a war with Pakistan and further screw up Afghanistan.
