This is a pretty silly attack. By implication, one could also argue that anyone that votes for Obama (which is sure to include some crackpot and unsavory characters) means Obama is just like them!
You’d think that McCain could have asked Bush to go and vote for Bob Barr. Seriously, first Bush takes McCain out in 2000 and now he’s taking him out in 2008. There’s almost a Shakesperean sense of tragic irony here for McCain.
Love your blog, but I agree with the K-Lo commenter. Some republicans voted for another republican. Please explain how that indicates anything about how he would govern. Or is this a joke, and I’m just being thick?
Cripes. I don’t mind it when Republicans whine about these things. After all, most of them are delicate flowers who have trouble handling it when their heroes get made fun of and are shocked that Republicans might end up facing public mockery for their behavior. However, liberals need to stop with the hue and cry for “seriousness” when they don’t feel some jabs at the other side meet their high-minded standards.
When Bush endored McCain back in March, McCain said that, “on the fundamentals and the principles of our Republican Party and most of the specifics of our shared conservative philosophy, President Bush and I are in agreement.” Listening to Palin talk about how McCain is a “maverick,” you might get the impression that McCain wants to bring fundamental change to Washington. The fact that Bush is still voting for McCain suggests that Bush isn’t fooled.
I might have a problem with Matt’s post if McCain hadn’t spent the past four years trying to convince the Republican party that he was prepared to continue Bush’s policies. Matt doesn’t need to make a serious case for tying McCain to Bush because McCain has already done so.

No word yet on whether Bush stopped before TV cameras and said, “When you’re in the voting booth and about to vote for John McCain, think of my face.”

Wow- there goes Texas…

They’re still registered as resident in Texas? How does that work? I thought you’d see them in line in DC, which would have been fun.

And no one would try to slime somebody by implication in this campaign, would they?

The primary residence of the President of the United States is the White House. Which is in Washington D.C. How the heck can they vote in Texas?
Seriously, how is this legal?

Change the names, and this post is remarkably like something K-Lo would post at the Corner.

Anonymiss: The President almost always votes in their home district, I think. It’s their permanent home–like when you’re away at college.
And I agree that this post is pretty silly, but it’s otherwise been a good day for Matt.
