I suppose I should say that I was able to gin up a “limited access” credential that’s gotten me, well, not inside the XCel Energy Arena per se to watch the convention, but inside the Arena’s basement to watch the speech on TV. Like I could back at the motel. Except other journalists are around. People in the basement seem very interested in the open bar sponsored by Diageo. Beyond that, I’m not sure what the benefit of having come here was. So far Palin’s speech seems . . . okay.

Am I correct in noting that Sarah Palin accepted the nomination for VP….however, she has not yet been officially nominated?

Listening to Sarah Palin, I now know what Hillary Clinton sounds like to dogs.

Wasn’t there an administrator who actually ran Wasilla while she was mayor? Was this town run under a city-manager system? Can someone who gets paid to find this stuff out do so?

Oh, it’s even better than that. She proudly took a $4,000 pay cut as a budget-saving move while she was mayor. Then she hired a city manager, adding another salary to the budget.

“a servant’s heart” = servant of Jesus.
I can’t believe she used the “thanks but no thanks” line again. To me, it really calls into question the honesty of everything else she’s saying in the speech.
If she’s lying about her meager accomplishments after being caught already?

This is a woman who was an idiot in high school and has proudly met her goal of becoming an imbecile.

Once again she lied about the bridge to nowhere. So journalist (if there are any out there) do your job.

I hear there is a party at the AmericInn that you’re missing. No “Limited Access” credentials necessary.

I just witnessed Rudy the Rottweiller and Sarah the Pit Bull. Both rapid.

Diageo, back in 2004 (when checking for this kind of thing was all the rage), was the only booze company listed that tilted Democratic on their ActBlue.com donations/sponsorships. AND NOW THIS. There goes all that pride I’d built up from case after case of Guinness.

“…an open bar sponsored by Diageo..”
Say what you like about the GOP, they do appreciate how to keep hacks happy: a bottomless bar run by a huge booze multinational.

On the way out to surf this morning I was listening to ESPN cause FM doesn’t come in up on the PCH. One of the non-hosts who talks sometimes (what are those guys? sound techs? producers?) was positively going off about Palin’s speech. The host is actually quite anti-Bush and voiced dislike for McCain, so it wasn’t just a love-in in general or anything. But this guy was just going off in a sort of scary if enough people agree with him sort of way… Saying things like how sincere and real she seemed, etc…
