Well, that was probably before the saw the “X-Files: Fight The Future” movie, which, from what I hear, opened a lot of people’s eyes about the need to combat the future.
I personally feel we should spend a lot of money combatting the future, seeing as how things that haven’t happened yet constitute the #1 source of unknown threats.
McCain is just being honest with the American electorate by lying upfront, all out in the open. He is just letting us all know that we should not expect the truth once elected. Now that is mavericky.
Worth noting, just 2 months ago McCain’s top budget advisor pointed to ending the FCS program as one of the lynchpins of his ‘plan’ to pay for his tax cuts (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/07/13/AR2008071301643.html). Which i guess begs the question, now where does McCain think he’s going to come up with $160 billion in defense procurement cuts? Or is he flip-flopping on that promise, too?
BTW, this false attack line has been percolating through right-wing emails for months. i had to correct one of my wife’s aunts on this back in July.
Wouldn’t it make a great TV commercial, to make fun of McCain for being such a maverick that he’s repeatedly shown he’s not afraid to stand up to John McCain?

Well, McCain also said he was “frankly doubtful” that The Surge™ would work, before he decided to criticize Obama for doubting The Surge™.

Barack Obama hasn’t stood up to oppose himself on any major issue.

I think it’s highly probable that McCain just says the first thing that occurs to him: the low impulse control that comes with the onset of senility.
Or else he’s just a lying horse’s ass.

Hmm, how do we get cool weapons like plasma rifles and Gundams unless we fund them militarily?
