Does the Times not consider basic math skills appropriate for journalists who attempt to use statistics?
Times reports that last night, 22 million people watched the convention, compared to 18 million last year. This is characterized as “slightly more viewers” in 2008 versus 2004.
It’s actually a 22% increase, and roughly twice the normal audience for a culty zeitgeist TV show like LOST. Not as big as a major sporting event or top-tier “must see” TV show, but not shabby at all.
I tried to watch on MSNBC and CNN but couldn’t stomach one more reference to the feud between Clinton and Obama. Switched to CSPAN and was far happier. Was CPAN audience counted?

I’m glad someone counts PBS, which has the best coverage. Some people call it “boring”, I prefer to call it “least maniacal”.

If you tuned into “America’s Got Talent,” you’d realize there’s a pretty good reason folks are tuning into the convention.

Touche. But in my defense, my math was right. My language skills are my weak spot.

A shame we can’t break the numbers down by D,R,I. I’d love to compare that data set with next week’s Republican snoozer.
