Interesting UN Foundation poll surveys the public’s views on various foreign policy priorities. It’s also interesting that Google Docs lets you make these embeddable slideshows:
I’m never sure how much credence to give this sort of polling, since I assume most people don’t really have well-formed or deeply-held opinions about foreign policy issues. But the interesting thing here actually just supports that observation — the enormously rapid swing in the direction of energy security as a priority and the upsurge of interest in a more restrictive role for the United States abroad.

what, are you saying that “hate foreigners!! kill the foreigners!!”
is not a “well-formed or deeply-held opinion about foreign policy issues”?

It’s kind of interesting that “dependence on foreign oil” is the label for the concern about the high price of oil/energy. Assuming openness to world markets, high prices would prevail even if the US were not “dependent on foreign oil” and had local sources (unless we abandoned the world market and subsidized energy purchases, a la Venezuela)

Come on. How are we supposed to take seriously a poll that asks the single question “Energy/cost of gas”?
WTF is this supposed to mean?
Concern about greenhouse gases?
Concern about foreign oil?
Concern about the price of energy?
Concern about running out of energy?
These are all vastly different concerns. I mean, christ, it’s like asking the question
“Are you worried about things?” (Yes) or (No)?
