Lugar on the G8
Wolf Blitzer asks Richard Lugar if kicking Russia out of the G8 is a good idea:
Lugar’s a generally sensible guy on national security issues, people should probably ask him if he agrees with more of McCain’s agenda on these topics.

Lugar, like all congress critters is irrelevant. Particularly within his own party. He’s a nothing. Wolf might ask him questions about important issues but what he thinks means nothing.
The life of a senior senator is good. Nice perks and tons of deference. Stuff get’s named after you. You’ll have a nice notable grave. End of story.

BLITZER: Because Senator McCain, the man you support for president, says Russia should be kicked out of the G-8, the major industrialized nations. Do you agree with him on that?
LUGAR: Probably not a good idea, simply because Russian business at this particular time, we’ve tried to bring about. We’ve tried to institute with Russians banking systems, a market system. They have utilized that, but with a different authoritarian model.

The full exchange…of course Wolf declined to follow up with a *since you support McCain, why do you think he’s advocating something so foolish as more empty threats we have no way of following through on*.
McCain continues to perk up at the concept of roaming the world for bad guys he can punch in the nose with no regard to what road it will take the country and at what cost.
